Restricting Access to Projects
Access to specific projects can be controlled by creating custom roles at the ACCOUNT level. Here, you can define what permissions users have within your FILES account based upon the role they have been assigned. By default, the "Admin" role has all permissions to the account, including to all projects and project folders. If you would like to create levels of permission, you can do that by creating custom roles.
In this article we'll learn how to:
- Create a custom role without full access
- Give users access to a project
- Give users access to a project folder
Create a custom role without full access
When you first log into CineSend, you will be at the ACCOUNTS level. Assuming you have the "Admin" role (the default), you can create custom roles that can be assigned to other users. Navigate to Roles and then click the red "Create New Role" button.

If you want to limit access to specific projects, the newly created custom role should not have the option "Can view all projects and project folders" enabled. By leaving this disabled, you will be able to decide which projects users are allowed to access. If you will have users who should only be able to see one specific project, for example, you might name this role with the same title as the specific project (ie. Big Buck Bunny team).

Give users access to a project
To give a user access to a specific project, on the Projects screen click the vertical ellipsis at upper-right side of the project's poster image and select "Update Access". You can either choose an existing user (by clicking "Add users from your organization"), or you can invite a new user to join the project (by clicking "Invite users").

Quickly see who has access when you are working in a project at upper-right where an indicator displays "Project members". An "Admin" user can click on this to review, add, and revoke access at any time from this same screen.

Give users access to a project folder
If your projects are organized by who has access to them, and you have enough projects where managing user access to projects on a one by one basis is inefficient, you can group projects together and then give access to the project folder. In this way you can add a users to a large number of projects at once.
To assign access at the project folder level, click into your project folder and to the right of the project folder name click on the people icon to open the team access modal window. Select "Add users from your organization" or "Invite Users" if you are inviting new team members to the account.
